Hemp Textiles

The Emperor Wears No Clothes by Jack Herer

Here is a quote from chapter 2 of Jack Herer’s book The Emperor Wears no Clothes about how cannabis was originally named and how hemp was used before it was prohibited.

The word “canvas”1 is the Dutch pronunciation (twice removed, from French and Latin) of the Greek word “Kannabis.”*

This chapter also goes into the history of how hemp was used in the textiles industry. Today, although very expensive you can buy hemp clothing. Here is a list of website that you can visit to find out more about how hemp textiles are used today. But second on the list is a really good article about where hemp fabrics are produced and what they are used for.

Just a short post today as the list of websites i have given you can probably tell you more than i can. So i hope you enjoy reading about Hemp textiles while i have i think about what my next post will be about.
