Diabetes and Cannabis

I don’t have this condition although I have had tests for diabetes several times. I do have friends that do. So i hope that this post serves to help them become well medicated. I know of at least one friend that partakes i can’t give him a number because all my friends are number one in my world, so i’m going to stop doing that and this has nothing at all to do with the fact that i have lost track of how many exibits I now have. Anyway back to Diabetes and cannabis.

Here is an article from 2019 from the global diabetes community website. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/recreational-drugs/cannabis.html They state about CBD and THCV but rescent knowledge suggests that the terpene Humulene can supress the appetite but we will go into that later. This post requires an update.

Efficacy and Safety of Cannabidiol and Tetrahydrocannabivarin on Glycemic and Lipid Parameters in Patients With Type 2 Diabetes: A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Parallel Group Pilot Study – https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27573936/

This webpage is an interview with an endocrinologist. This is a service that studies hormones like insulin that regulates glucose. This interview is from March 2022 and talks about all the cannabinoids and terpenes to help with this condition. Although it mentions Caryophelene rather than Humulene – https://www.healio.com/news/endocrinology/20220317/knowledge-grows-about-cannabis-cbd-use-by-people-with-diabetes

This link is not a link about diabetes as such but more about THCV and it’s benefits. There are other articles if you keep scrolling down which may be of interest to some people. The first article was written in August 2021 – https://www.healthline.com/health/substance-use/thcv

This one is a good read about which chemovars/Cultivars/strains are good for those with diabetes. But not much use to those in the UK except you can get CBD but no THC Cannatonic and Harlequin in the UK – https://greencamp.com/weed-and-diabetes/

This is the one! But i’ve also just found out that Humulene is the same as Alpha Carophelene which has a boiling point of 107c so the Caryophelene that boils off at 130c is Beta Caryophelenehttps://leafwell.com/blog/marijuana-and-diabetes/

I think i’m going to leave it there for now i don’t want to confuse you anymore now and you have enough to be reading for now. I may revisit this if i find any up to date information.

  3. I have had a comment on one of the groups I posted this to. I have a comment that I have been given permission to share here anonymously.

“I can report that strains with Caryophelene do ensure I need less insulin to get me through the day. Since 1st of Jul when I started my legal prescription I can report less sugar fluctuations, my insulin to carb ratio has decreased (meaning I need less insulin to cover 10g of carbs) and my food is digested better (I have sluggish digestion after decades of poorly controlled diabetes). I sleep better so my moods and anxiety are more manageable”.
